Freedom of ReligionReader comment on item: No Islamic Law in Minnesota, for Now Submitted by Frummer (United States), Oct 26, 2006 at 00:28 Yes indeed, we do have freedom of religion in this country. Yes we do. Thank God for it. I do not think we shudder from intimidation of other faiths - that's not it. What is "it"? it's the fact that we have a religion that began with violence back in its beginnings in the early 7th century and has NEVER, to my knowledge, renounced it one bit. Plus, it uses deceit and misdirection (both condoned in the Koran) to win people's trust and to give the appearance of moderation and tolerance (read their dealing with the Qur'esh tribe in Arabia) So I think it is more of a healthy mistrust of them in general. As a Jew I am not intimidated when i pass a burkha or see a kefia on a Muslim's head. I can interact with them and often do. But I am aware that the majority of them do not like me, and so I would not be going to their house for tea. A healthy distance and a casual aquaintance with them is what I keep, and I hope they would do the same.
