The melting pot called AmericaReader comment on item: No Islamic Law in Minnesota, for Now Submitted by Scott N. (United States), Nov 10, 2006 at 11:45 America is the land of immigrants and the melting pot of those immigrants. Part of coming to America is the expectation of a better life and various freedoms. Part of the responsibility of those coming, is to become an American. As such we have over 225+ years of developing our own culture and customs. Muslims are more then welcome to add their flavor to the melting pot stew we call America, but please do not expect America to empty our already flavorful melting pot stew because you believe it is not the flavor YOUR god likes. If joining our free society with laws made by men, for all men, is not possible because it conflicts with perceived religious laws, then the question needs to be asked. Why would you come here? Why would you stay? Freedom of religion means you can believe God is a rock, if you so wish. It does not mean you get to force the rest of America believe it is so.
