I have to laugh -- here in Canada there was a fellow who held dual citizenship -- he was born in Syria, but also had Canadian citizenship. CSIS (that's Canada's spy agency) noted that he was making contacts with some unsavoury types (ie, suspected terrorists.) Anyway, the fellow traveled to Syria, was flying back to Canada -- and he was detained in New York (at the air port). The authorities began questioning him -- calls to CSIS -- etc., anyway, because he was a dual citizen he was returned to Syria. He claims he was tortured in Syria.
Anyway, he eventually returned to Canada. His wife was instrumental in pressing the Canadian government to get him out of the Syrian jail. (there's been an inquiry, etc.)
The point though is this -- no sooner had his case been publicized then all the left-wing political parties (the Liberals and the NDP) immediately wanted to have his wife run as an MP (that's Member of Parliament.) Remember -- there's been no trial, only his claim: "I'm not a terrorist!!" and all Canadians immediately believe "He's innocent!!" Well, he may or may not have been "innocent." But, the point is, thoughts that Muslims would ever be interned or detained or even inconvienced? Well, forget it. Not gonna happen...(maybe it should, but it's not realistic given today's world.)
