Intentional Deception!
Reader comment on item: State's Terror Untruths

Submitted by William J. Sturm (United States), May 28, 2002 at 23:51

I believe the politicians know exactly what they are doing with this deception. I think the bias is more than accidental; it is intentional. This report satisfies a carefully reasoned political agenda. It is accurate isn't it? The means justifies the the ends. Also, I am reminded that "figures don't lie, but liers can sure figure". I think we call them "spinners".

Unfortunately, the main concern I have is with the American Public. They are almost totally apathetic concerning significant world events. Their collective complacency is perhaps as dangerous and troubling to our ultimate survival as is the threat created by terrorists. Only a small minority of eligible voters go out to vote in any given election. In addition, half of those would probably fail a general knowledge test cocerning the issues involved in the election.

Until there is an appropriate awareness and response to the lies promogated by the government, I suspect we will be stuck with what we deserve. I have found in my personal experience that when I attempt to discuss such events, eyes "glaze over" very quickly. Most folks could be visitors from another planet based on their limited comprehension concerning world affairs. Finally, their perception of the truth is both pathetic and embarrassing.

America has a very soft and vulnerable belly. Perhaps it was caused by the long period of prosperity. Could it be the politicians aren't interested in stopping the carnival either?
