Back again. Did I ever tell Dr Pipes about a luncheon I attended in Ankara during the Six Day War in 1967? My host was the senior Civil Servant in the Prime Minister's office. Not surprisingly, the discussion at the table was about the war.

It was ended, however, by the senior man's saying, "We Turks do not like people who start a war and whine when they're beaten."
