I find it very interesting that Assistant Professor Laura Bier finds it nearly intolerable that she has to be careful in her remarks and teaching to students. Pray tell, in what profession is it not required to be professional and careful in your public comments?
As a long-time professional and current PhD student, I find it necessary to be very careful in my public comments both at work and in class. Even though my university is not in the far left of the spectrum as universities go, I can tell you that expressing a conservative viewpoint is strongly discouraged. So I do not feel a lot of sympathy that an assistant professor actually has to think about what she says. How is this such a terrible burden?
