in reference to Arab takeover of US ports, and public backlash
Reader comment on item: Separation of Civilizations?

It is no wonder that the uproar of the US public over the selling of US shipping ports resulted in Arab withdrawal from the deal: the Bush administration has done just about everything it can to alienate the US population to everything Arabic. I myself find I am distrustful of Arabs if for no other reason, from what the government is feeding me thru news releases, and television news is generally down-turned toward Arabs. I would like to know that out of 1 billion people who follow Islam, that a rather large percent is not out to exterminate me. One would never know it from the news, though.
I wish Pres. Bush would be truthful over Iraq, and make a planned withdrawal, and let them fight their own civil war. Imagine the mockery of Islam when they turn on each other! How would I ever trust them? Yet, I want to believe that they are our brothers wanting peace as much as I do.
Look at the Sudan: a country torn apart by civil war so long that it's population knows little else. The Arabs want to impose "sharia" on all Sudan, and the south Sudan will die before allowing Arabs to do just that. Once again, it is Arab versus non Arab, and Arab versus Arab in the Darfur region of Sudan.
From what I have read of the Quran, it's followers seem to interpret it to say whatever they want it to say, just as Americans do with the Bible. I am interested in how closely the Quran "mimics" the Bible, and am dismayed over the way it's followers interpret it as to kill others.
Any answers?
