Reader comment on item: Saudi Religious Leader Calls for Slavery's Legalization

Submitted by John (United States), Feb 26, 2006 at 00:14

Islam will keep its slavery. It is as central to Islam as the sermon on the Mount is to Christians. The Koran cannot be reformed unless someone rewrites it. It is written that it is the word of god.

Islam is a pretty good deal for its followers, except for the poverty of spirit and following a ... It's nice to have slaves, and slave women who must do what you want, don't you think? It's very pleasant to know that you are the superior of everyone else, and they must bow to you because you are part of Islam. It's often the urge of young men to go out and kill and have sex with women as they like. Islam gives that right to its followers.

So? How can this change from within?

You say, Daniel, that Islam must emulate Methodists. But how? How can it? Methodists reformed because the bible says not to do that. Islam reforms by going back to slavery as the Koran says.

So it won't happen Daniel.
