This is a wonderfull work by Dr pipes. I appreciate his academic excellence. I, however, see the following:
Dr pipes concludes that there is an alliance between the so called left in the US and al Qaeda because they share common points of view. I, first, do not agree to name Blum movement a leftist movement in a general way. Nonetheless, I agree on that definition if we specify a little bit. I d rather call that an Ideological or cultural left movement. I disagree to identify that as a political leftist movement.
Well, making that conclusion, Dr Pipes gives the right to others to make other conclusions. that is to conclude that there was an alliance between the Amercican right and centre and al Qaeda terrorism from mid-1980s to mid-1990s; especially in the afghan war against former USSR.
My conclusion is the fact that Al Qaeda was a strong ally to the Right, the Left and the Centre. I question why putting the emphasis on their alliance with the left while not mentioning the past terrorist alliance with the right and the centre in America!!
A message to the rightists and centrists in American politics: If you live in a glass house do not throw stones...America remains an alliance with the rich. No matter who that rich is, Saoudi radical, latin American dictator, lybian blood sucker -Qadafi- as we see now..etc..America should stand up strong with humane social program and labor standards. A universal health and pre-university education plan and start building for the future. America need to remove god from the foreign policy to be able to ask Najad to remove god from his...
Thank you very much
