Far left is safer than being a friend of Israel

Reader comment on item: [William Blum and] Al-Qaeda's Leftist Brigade

Submitted by y brandstetter MD (Israel), Jan 24, 2006 at 15:57

The American Left has always been willing to lend a friendly hand to the enemies of America and Israel, from Communist Russia to Ussama Bi Laden. And why not, since the most despicable anti-american language and action earns one the admiration of the American and European mainstream media, to say nought of riches and fame acquired and sustained.

However, being a friend of Israel is another matter. There one stands to be castigated, persecuted, terrorised and finally jailed. The case of Larry Franklin stands out a mile. The harshness in which the law dealt with a a patriotic American who happened to think that the interests on America and Israel happen to coincide (just as much as Ussama thinks) indicates where the wind is blowing in American Justice and Media.

Blum is therefore following the mainstream for success. Spitting venom into the well is de-rigeur, and in fashion, whereas being a patriot is not. No wonder the American Holocaust museum is very careful to obscure the role played by the Arab High Commission in the demise of European Jewery.

No wonder American Jewery is on edge. It is safer to be on the far left, and infinitlely more rewarding.
