Syria is still the flash point all this much time later. It remains in focus because the interior antipathies are not quenched yet and in view of that, we are watching a debate of how much the current arbiters of the region are shape shifting their participation. President Trump indicates a pullout of a sort and the Iranian are all but chafing at the bit to find what kind of vacuum that creates to allow them to reposition their assets in anticipation of sweeping through behind/(or ahead of ) the Russians into the Golan; ostensibly, if the Syrians are still under al-Assad's auspices, to take Gaulanitus back. We'll not overly speculate on that; yet it IS approaching.
