The "Reset"

Reader comment on item: Decoding the Obama Doctrine

Submitted by J.S. (Canada), Apr 6, 2015 at 23:01

I recall, back in 2010, watching Fareed Zakaria's program "GPS" ("Global Public Square"). I checked the transcript -- the program aired on June 20, 2010. On this program Zakaria was hawking a book written by a far-left journalist. The name of the book was "Reset" by Stephen Kinzer.

What was Kinzer's proposal (which so fascinated Zakaria)? Kinzer advocated that the United States should dump Israel as an ally, and become an ally of Iran. (Kinzer's thesis was that Israel and Saudi Arabia should be replaced by Turkey and Iran as new U.S. allies). This notion so alarmed me I asked a professor of Middle Eastern studies if he thought this could ever come to pass. He assured me it was impossible and not to worry. He did not live long enough to see Obama's disastrous policies come to fruition. But now it seems Obama has wholeheartedly adopted Kinzer's thesis.
