Obama has a policy?

Reader comment on item: Decoding the Obama Doctrine

Submitted by DC Rifenburgh (United States), May 3, 2015 at 03:01

I have often wondered: what is Obama's game plan, if he indeed has one? We all know his background by now and I suppose he is following that post-60s anti-colonial, anti-imperialist, anti-racist agenda, sort of, but can that be a viable plan for positive development or policy for a superpower? Masochistic remorse does'nt get you far in realpolitiks.

To say that our foreign policy is in free-fall seems an understatement when one looks at Libya, Syria, Egypt, Ukraine and Yemen. More like reaping the whirlwind. The Middle east, one wag noted, produces more history than can be consumed locally. I tremble for our country when I consider this history is one of the few credit items on our balance of trade. The end may come when Israel, Sampson-like, pulls the temple down upon itself. I wonder if anything will be left among the rubble.
