".....WHY must we respect belief in the supernatural for which there is ZERO evidence?..."

One shouldn't respect superstition of course, but there's no solid evidence yet of dark matter either - but for things to be as they are physicists say it HAS to exist. Are you going to tell them they're wrong because you have a different idea?

For proof of 'supernatural' - take a serious look at quantum physics.
