The Arab Leadership in Palestine
Reader comment on item: Pipes criticises Middle East leaders

Submitted by Arlinda DeAngelis (United States), Feb 13, 2005 at 15:00

I hope that Abbas is true to his word about peace. I just do not believe him. I hope Abbas has control over the various terrorist organization i.e. Hamas, Hezbollah, the Martyrs Brigade, Missy Arafat's New Martyrs Brigage, El Aqsa etc. I just do not think he wants to control them.

I always have hope for a peace settlement in the Middle East. As long as the Arabs play their stupid and deadly games for the annihilation of Israel, the leadership in Palestine can rant from now until doomsday about peace, and security and democracy. As the speak the terrorism goes on and on and on.

Why? It's the best paying job in the region.

My only concern is the safety and security of the Israelis. The Arabs' idea of safety and security is the extinction of Israelis and occupation of Israel. They've moderated their hate mongering lately but I am skeptical of them before they're out of bed in the morning. Their lives, their history, their present behavior is appalling. It demonstrates that hatred is alive and well among the Arabs in Palestine. Seems to me the only requirements are those made of the Israelis. Until the terrorist organizations are gone, obliterated, demolished, ended, destroyed and non-existent will I believe anything that emanates from the Arabs in Palestine.

Otherwise it is just more talk and more homicide bombings.
