What is a reasonable person to do?

Reader comment on item: Islam Drives the Social and Legal Agenda in the West

Submitted by Larry (United States), Jul 23, 2010 at 12:13

Dr. Pipes,

I am in complete agreement with your no nonsense approach. You are correct, Islam is using our democratic institutions to drive an agenda to promote Islam as the religion.

Separation of Church and State is a fundamental value in our Western Society. The idea that one religion is entitled to preferential treatment over another is abhorrent to me. Religion should be a private matter. What you believe in or practice in private is your absolute right. It is my right as a citizen to require that what you expect or do in public is free of any religion

What as citizens can we do to make others aware of this developing argument? How can we best protest without alienating the left and the progressives who have a lot of clout and who are easily duped by the idea that they are somehow anti-democratic by simply saying no, not in my country, thank you. Go back to countries that are state supported of Islam but get out of the USA with this agenda.

I hope to hear your reply.

Thanks,

Larry
