Plurality being a bane of fundamentalist Islam

Reader comment on item: Christians Disappearing From Iraq

Submitted by David W. Lincoln (Canada), Aug 25, 2004 at 13:36

My compliments to Professor Pipes on keeping us to date as to what is happening in Iraq, especially those Iraqis who are not Muslim.

The only reasonable conclusion that I arrive at is, any other faith tradition that is present is a bane to Islam. Why? Because fundamentalist Islam has a rival.

For, one of the shared traits that binds all Muslims together is, there is one law, the sharia, and all are to be under it.

As long as other faith traditions are in lands that have Muslims, it is very reasonable to conclude that Muslims see the divisivness of diversity, and not the complementary aspect of it.
