Personal ResponsibilityReader comment on item: The Islamic States of America? Submitted by Bert (United States), Aug 17, 2009 at 00:56 I struggle with the ideas presented in this article every day. I see so much of what is considered Christian by the mainstream as a way for the individual to justify the wealth this country offers in the form of Christian entitlement. This is at the expense of poorer countries who sustain our lifestyles through through expansion of industry in which those members in these poorer countries work for very little money. We are the benifactors of this cheap labor in that we enjoy the products of their labors for a modest price while the big coorporations expand and industrialize more countries and enjoy the bulk of the profit that this cheap labor produces. Given what I've said is true, what is my Christian role in response to this? I do live moderately, but I know this is not enough. After working for 25 years in sand & gravel and in the timber industry I am now a student preparing myself in the field of Psychology for something I hope is more meaningful than just furthering the coorporate world. And in the long run, I hope to work with people in the helping professions. But still, this aspiration seems to come up woefully short of the call for action that this article suggests.
