I share some of Kreidie's positions on Ashcroft, on the Patriot Act, and on unfocused efforts to identify terrorists by putting large populations under scrutiny. I am as frightened of terrorism as anyone else, but I don't think a blunderbuss assault on civil liberties will protect us nearly as much as it will reduce American freedoms.
