Don't Look for "Solutions"
Reader comment on item: Who Won in Israel's Elections?

Submitted by Bernie (United States), Feb 13, 2009 at 16:24

Why suppose that there is some unique solution to the problem. What was the solution to the Soviet-USA confrontation? Knowing what to do may not be all that clear; knowing what not to do isin this case, much clearer. Don"t let rockets pour down on Israel without taking decisive measures. Don't believe that making further concessions under the rubric "land for peace" when all it has produced is more war. Since the withdrawal from southern Lebanon and from Gaza only produced Arab missiles pouring down on Israel, don't withdraw from the West Bank. And so on. When will it all end? No-one knows. The demand for a "solution" as though this state of affairs was some kind of puzzle is idiotic.
