Disappointment..Reader comment on item: Will Geert Wilders Show His Film on the Koran? Submitted by S.N.Salleh (Singapore), Sep 28, 2008 at 10:16 I stumbled across this forum and am deeply shocked at what i read about people's reaction towards islam, citing it as a violent, facist religion which encourages killing amongst other horrible things. I am a muslim and even though you might think otherwise I can tell you that islam is a peaceful religion. True other non-muslims might see it as a religion of extremism to the point of demanding believer's to be 'perfectionists', but that is because of how islam is portrayed in the media today. All those killings and acts of terrorism caused by islamic militants are almost reported daily in the news. These people are not being mislead by the quran but more likely misled by themselves and their interpretation of what the quran requires them to do. People in general are easily swayed and influenced due to circumstances and different factors and that is never going to change even today. I believe all religions are meant to be peaceful. Its just that some believers tend to misinterpret the teachings,in this case islam and incite violence and bloodshed. I am sad that many others believe islam is a violent religion but not as sad as seeing my fellow muslim succumb to negative influences and resort to violence because of their sheer lack of willpower..
