Why make it uninhabitable?Reader comment on item: The Unthinkable Consequences of an Iran-Israel Nuclear Exchange Submitted by Kafir (United States), Apr 20, 2008 at 08:35 What you're describing is what was called in the Cold War MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction). It worked in the Cold War because the Russians and the West both wanted their cultures to survive. From what little I know about Shiism, they are OK with the idea of dying in the cause of securing land for Allah. Therefore, Israel's policy of opacity makes sense because it keeps her enemies guessing. While the Muslims are OK with dying for Allah, they do sort of want to take out the Jews at the same time if it comes to that. However, I don't think the Jews want to relocate to the US while the ME glows. Surely they have been given or otherwise acquired Neutron bomb capability. They can wipe out their enemies and still keep their land. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
