Iran is saner than it seems

Reader comment on item: The Unthinkable Consequences of an Iran-Israel Nuclear Exchange

Submitted by TGGP (United States), Nov 26, 2007 at 21:45

The old-guard revolutionaries are mostly dead and the next generation are apathetic. Mahmoud is treated as the equivalent of a Bush or Blair, but Iran is not actually a democracy but instead controlled by unelected mullahs who don't want to risk their cushy positions. The last war Iran was in was because it was invaded by Iraq. The anti-Shi'ite Taliban regime even murdered some of their officials, but the leadership was cautious enough not to start a fight over it and instead let the U.S destroy its enemy regimes. As with Hugo Chavez,
most of the hot-air that comes out of there is just that: hot air.
