Separation of Church and State is NOT a constitutional idea, but rather a phrase that came from a leter Thomas Jefferson once wrote. In fact, the constitution provides for the freedom of religion without interference from the government - not the operation of government without the influence of religion. The founding forefothers intended that God be a part of our everyday gevernment and that our government be constrained by a fear of God, etc. It was NEVER intended to protect the government from the influence of religion, but the other way around.
