We're Muslims, and we don't like it either

Reader comment on item: 'Become a Muslim warrior'

As-salaamu 'alaikum, shalom aleichem and peace be upon you!

We are Muslims, and we agree that this curriculum is wrong and unconstitutional. It is a definite violation of the separation of church and state, which is one of the most fundamental principles upon which the United States has been built. We would be very upset if a child of ours was made to "act out" someone else's religion in school. Likewise, no Christian, Jew, Hindu, or adherant of any other religion should be made to "act out" our religion. We fully understand why this curriculum has stirred up such anger.

In order to uphold the standards set forth in our nation's constitution, there are only two options when it comes to the teaching of religion in school: 1. The beliefs and practices of NO religions are discussed in school. 2. The beliefs and practices of ALL major religions (there would simply not be enough time to cover every single religion on earth) are taught (not acted out) OBJECTIVELY, without PROMOTING any religion.

We will continue to pray for peace and understanding among all people.

Peace and blessings!
Joseph and Amy Cato
