Reader comment on item: The Middle East's Tribal Affliction
in response to reader comment: Islam discourages tribalism

Dear Amhad,

Please give incidents of the west or any country attacking islam or "true islam" as you call it. Wherever islam springs up, it is islam that challenges the ruling Govt. of the people to change and include islamic sharia law. When they cannot get by legislative means, they do so by force. For every dispicable act of terror done by islamists, there is well oiled coresponding force of vocal apologists who cry out foul and unfair when the press tries to report on its evils.

As for tribalism, perhaps we should re-define the word as cult, or sect for this age. Wherever religion establishes itself as the dominant force in any region, it is only a matter of time that it will self implode. Look at Christianity, how many different religions have sprung up since its begining. Should we call them tribes? After all, they gather together comunally for one purpose. Splinter groups break off and begin a new order of the religion, and islam is no exception. The goal of the sect is to re-define its original position and to gather as many followers as it can, hence the tribal mentality.

As for pre-islamic behavior, the best witness for the worlds people is active islam at work in the world. Tell me, what has changes since muhammed ordered his armies to terrorize, loot, rape and kill innocent people of differing opinions and Gods ? As it was then so is it today.
