While everything which has been said above is painfully true, to give the devil its due (no rhyme intended) I must demure in one important respect.
Islam has only scant decades ago entered its 16th Century. When one recalls Christendom's 16th Century, 'though marginally better, was very much the same. Out of many examples remember that European aristocrats were still then in the habit of murdering their fellow countrymen for political and/or financial gain.
True, we live in an age of Information Technology. One may hope that this will speed up Islam's "Reformation"; however, look at how Communist China brutally supressed the students at Tienanmen Square; for that matter look at Mullah ridden Iran.
Still, "Hope Springs Eternal".
