Other slanders against Mr. Pipes and Campus Watch
Reader comment on item: Backhanded Endorsements of Campus Watch

Mr. Pipes:

Today, Little Green Footballs reported on an article in the Arab News written by Ray Hanania which accuses Campus Watch and you of inciting religious hatred. Here is the e-mail I sent to Mr. Hanania.

Sir:

You defame Daniel Pipes in your article in the Arab News when you state that "Pipes is accused of
heading a campus watch group accused of preaching religious hatred, too, something the CIRF seems to
have missed."

How you use the word "accused" twice in one sentence is as remarkable as it is ungrammatical. How you
accuse Mr. Pipes of "preaching religious hatred" without any foundation or sources, and blithely assume
the accusation (there's that word again!) is true, is the epitome of intellectual dishonesty. How do you
know that Mr. Pipes preaches religious hatred? You don't.

I am familiar with your writings. I know that you criticize persons who label as anti-Semitic those who
are anti-Zionist or are critical of Israel. Yet, you seem ready, willing, and always able to label any one
who is criticizes Islamic politics and theology -irrespective of the content - as promoting "religious
hatred." The fact is that the dominant wing of Islamic political and religious thinking is a threat
to liberal democratic values. You are being dishonest.

Oh and by the way, your willingness to be published in the Saudi royal family's English mouthpiece,
Arab News - hardly an outlet for liberal tolerance - speaks loudly. To my way of thinking, it is the
equivalent of being published in the Völkischer Beobachter, which was the organ of the German Nazi
party, or Pravda.
