Dear Linda,

Your comment highlights a very important issue, and that is the problem of second generation Muslims.
I find it difficult to believe that in the 1950's people would be walking on the streets of the Land of The Free in traditional Muslim dress. Even if there was no law against it, society wouldn't stand for it. The attitude has to be that in the U.S. you are first and foremost an American, and whatever your personal background is, is secondary. Nowadays, expressing your individuality, being different is not only accepted, but encouraged. That has to change. Oddball behavior has to be marginalized by our society. If that was the case in France, second generation Muslims would not exist.
