Reader comment on item: Where the Nazi "Big Lie" Endures

Submitted by Blackspeare (United States), May 3, 2007 at 17:06

The Arabs have always said that time was on their side and they have used it well. Along with propagandized lies coupled with wars of attrition in the form of intifadas, we have reached the present situation. Israel held fast to a belief that the light at the end of the tunnel was just ahead. All the Arabs need now is a US administration demonstrably favorable to their side. They almost had it in President Carter, but the Arabs were weak at that time, politically disorganized, and Israel could resist, but maybe not so easily in this present time.

The opportunity was there in 1967 when the Palestinian Arabs, in massive numbers were ready to flee the West Bank in fear of the Israelis----all Israel had to do was let them. But a short sighted military/politician by the name of Dayan stopped them saying they could all live in peace. If he had just kept his mouth shut, the Palestinians Arabs would have fled to Jordan and Lebanon and Israel could have annexed the West Bank. Of course the world would have opposed this move strenuously, but in time it would have been a fait accompli since the area would have been essentially abandoned. What could have been----then Israel could have offered the Arabs a "Land for Peace" deal!!!
