Reader comment on item: Where the Nazi "Big Lie" Endures
in response to reader comment: Lies have unfortunately endured

Dear Dr Pipes, your reader Jim said the following,

"people in America don't realize that the vast majority of Muslims are like the majority of Christians and don't care about religion. they just go on about their lives trying to support their family."

Jim is mostly right except for a few things:

1) When it comes to persecuting minorities in an Islamic majority country, even normal muslims join hands with the persecuters. For example, in countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh the representation of minorities in national sporting teams miniscule.

2) When it comes to demanding more rights in a country where muslims are in minority, even normal muslims will join hands with the extreme muslims. For example, even muslims scholars in the US, join hands with organizations like CAIR and ISNA.

Finally, 3) in regions where Muslims are in extreme majority (90+ %) even normal muslims give high level of support to the extremist elements. For example, in Egypt the percent of population that will support Islamic brotherhood, is much larger than the % of population that will support evangelical christians in the US.

The net effect of these three things is that in every society there are proportionally more muslims to raise an arm for Islam than people following other religions for their religions.
