There's the rub

Reader comment on item: Next Steps in Israeli-Palestinian Peace Process

Submitted by Howard E. Cook (United States), Feb 26, 2007 at 03:52

Where there is light there is hope. When one sees the light of a wise scholar shining in this political conference one sees a ray a hope. When Daniel Pipes alludes to the wisdom of Clausewitz -- 'he who controls the heartland controls the glob' -- he brings into this discussion, into the thrown room so to speak, the light of a wise Daniel. Contol of the heartland, the Euro-Asian land mass, in the terms of the Clausewitz thesis, is what this war is all about. The collective unconscious of both tribes in this Armageddon, to call a spade and spade, carries a messianic vision or a coming world order. And the one vision is in conflict with the other. Will the world be ruled by the nation of Islam or by its opponent? There's the rub.
