Reader comment on item: [Brandeis University President Jehuda] Reinharz, Israel and Me

As every parent of college-age students knows, it's all about money when it comes to organized events. As a speaker, invited by a committee, insist on a higher learning type agreement, eg cancellation or delay for anything but an act of G-d, provide for liquidated damages, exposure to student abuse, ah ha, more damages. Interested in getting your message across to students, submit an article to their paper, or better yet, an editorial.

Also, while D. Pipes' complaints about being put on hold by Brandeis sound legitimate, complaining about Brandeis as a means of gaining access to Brandeis is a little bit like being invited to coffee at someone's house and then criticizing the host, the environment, or the coffee itself.

Finally, conservative and liberal have become labels used by agendized hatemongers and extremists across the country to justify outrageous ideas, actions and attacks. We are citizens, beyond our views on any particular issue. As citizens, university students are extremely pro free speech, remember, they've just recently survived being one of the most governed, restricted, and muzzled groups in the US--children.

Daniel Pipes replies:

I was invited by students, not by the admnistration of Brandeis.
