Churchs in muslim countries

It seems that forgot totally that there are existing more churches in islamic countries than mosques in european and northern american countries, and I'm not talking about churches in the sense as the european mosques are (most of them are simple rooms, without being able to recognise them as mosques). They are real large churches as for example in Cairo, Damascus or Istanbul and they are standing there since more than 1400 years.
