Reader comment on item: Enforce Islamic Law in Canada?

Submitted by BATYA DAGAN (United States), Sep 28, 2005 at 16:00

THE PROBLEM ,OF COURSE ,is that SHARIA LAWS are awful.Unjust.Women do not have equal rights under SHARIA and in fact are the assigned group of people to be hurt by sharia laws. .The Muslims have a point that if they cannot have their Sharia no one else should have their religious laws. It so happens , though, that all other laws are within democracy laws and do not hurt one group or another. What the Muslim women in CANADA want is to be protected by the laws of the land they live in and this is not too much to ask in a democracy. Not only do I hope that they will prevail but also that they will be the trail blazers for Muslim women everywhere. It is an uphill battle but at one point they need to start the climbing.
