Make a problem an opportunity.

Reader comment on item: [West Africa:] New Route to the West

Submitted by Charles Smyth (United Kingdom), May 31, 2006 at 10:02

With a generation of Africans dying of AIDS and their political systems riven by corruption and tribalism, those who determinedly make ever more desperate attempts to gain entry to Europe, should be applauded for their determination, even though they are misguided, as to their prospects of prosperity when they get there.

Now that new impediments have been put in place, in the form of offshore holding centres, we have a substantial and captive audience, which could be properly trained and reeducated, to then be returned to their homeland to forcibly remove and replace the failing administrations they have fled. The training should take the form of advanced military instruction provided by an appropriate Private Military Company (PMC), such as Aegis Defence Services, for example. And the education should take the form of the essential elements of laissez-faire capitalism. This would provide an opportunity to resolve a growing problem of unnecessary immigration, stabilise the African continent, and act as a proper counter to the many religious fanatics who corrupt the philosophical underpinnings of Africa, at home and abroad. This would also apply to immigrants from South Asia.
