Where is the visible support from the American Muslim Community?

Reader comment on item: The Snipers: Crazy or Jihadis?

Submitted by Dr. Don Salem (United States), Oct 29, 2002 at 15:01

Dear Daniel,
The Bat Ye'or article on Human Rights and Jihad is logically devastating. I am sure you would have a comment.

More to the point of part of your article. I read the newspapers every day and I listen and view too much news. I get about two hundred emails about the subject you addressed from many perspectives.

Yet I have not seen Muslim Americans publicly holding rallies against terrorism...in THIS country. I have heard some placating remarks from some Muslim leaders, but again, where is the community of American Muslims speaking out PUBLICLY in this country against terrorism, against Jihad?

Have I missed their storm of protest? Or am I to assume that in our country of freedom of speech that they have chosen to remain silent?
