M Tovey, of course American democracy is under attack. But I don't think we should have any truck with complaining about it, or playing the victim as Trump and his acolytes do (all the while, straining credibility because of their false assertions). That just feeds the problem. And maybe the entitlement mentality which some in my generation (rightly or wrongly) associate with the boomer generation in America explains some of the rot. I think the solution is for us boldly to proclaim the truth, as the First Amendment still allows us to do, without fear or favor.
