Bravo, also another issue

Reader comment on item: Israel Is the Least-Stolen Land

Submitted by David (United States), Jun 24, 2022 at 00:35

A well-written and much needed piece. I will just direct attention to another matter that seems to be escaping attention, which is the Iranian nuclear issue. It seems there are quite significant developments insofar as a willingness of the Ayatollahs to return to the "deal," and the author quite rightly seemed relieved a few weeks or months ago when there seemed to be a deadlock. I wonder what your assessment is of the latest developments.

Regarding the fact that the JNF and other philanthropists purchased land in Israel, indeed correct. Notwithstanding it is also worth reminding public audiences that Israel is the only re-established country of a people that had been defeated and dispersed, thereafter to resurrect a polity speaking the same language, worshipping the same God, and committed to the same collective identity. Barbara Tuchman had a particularly eloquent sentence in this regard. It is not a colonial project, but a resurrected polity.

Daniel Pipes replies:

Thanks. But I do not see the Iranian nuclear buildup ignored. I do see it appeased.
