Bad news for Debanjan Banerjee

Reader comment on item: Iran's Christian Boom
in response to reader comment: The experience of Reza Aslan

Submitted by Prashant (United States), Aug 12, 2021 at 22:24

Dear Dr Pipes, Our dear reader Debanjan Banerjee made a huge leap. He said that most Iranian converts to Christianity will do what Reza Aslan did and regress back to Islam. Mr Banerjee expressed his hope but provided no evidence; if one guy is wise or stupid, it does not mean that everyone will be equally wise or stupid. So, no, everyone will not be a Reza Aslan. And, even if every one does what Aslan did, I have a worse news for Mr Banerjee.

You see, non-Muslims are too broad minded to worry about people regressing back to Islam. We just want open-mindedness in Islam. If ten million Muslims try Christianity and regress back to Islam that revolving door is exactly what we want. For crying out loud, Muslims do not even have to leave Islam. They just have to try yoga, meditation, vegetarianism, non-vegetarianism, socialism, capitalism, communism, veganism, paganism, pelotonism, atheism, violence, non-violence, love-Israelism, hate-Israelism, etc etc. If this kind of diversity enters Islam, half of the problem will be solved. And, that is a bad news for Islamists and Islamic-apologists and a good news for planet earth.
