Reader comment on item: Iran's Christian Boom

Submitted by DEBANJAN BANERJEE (India), Jul 13, 2021 at 01:44

The real problem here are twofold.

1. The fast decline of White Evangelical Christian Amreeka following the no-holds-barred support that these Evangelicals gave to the presidents George W Bush and Trump who were nothing but Islamophobic warmongers and I believe the death of half a million Americans in last one and half years due to COVID are because of those Wars. The NYT article that I showed supports my viewpoint.

2. There is only two choices now left for Israel in the current geopolitical scenario. Accept a democratic one-state solution with equal rights for both the Jews and Arabs or be ready to be recognized as a Zionist version of Apartheid South Africa. The one-state solution has already been chosen by the current Israeli government.

3. The so-called conversions in the Islamic republic is a propaganda by the Christian Zionists to assuage their dwindling bases for clinging on. Remember those tall claims in the 2000-s that how China will become world's largest Christian democracy as the evangelicals claimed that more Chinese have become Christians than communists ? The reality turned out to be different I am afraid. The reality is that more and more people in the Global south will be increasingly looking at solutions other than what the West has to offer for the simple reason that the collective Western lost to COVID.

4. The Western defeat in Afghanistan and the larger West Asian region ensures that those Muslims who believed that the Western way of life is the only true path to modernization has been left behind by history.
Islamic Republic offers a solution to the region;s problems and it is to be shown whether it will export it's model outside it's borders.

I welcome viewpoints from all the people in this forum who oppose my above mentioned views in a debate.

Thanks and regards with best wishes
