This Is a "Holy War"

Reader comment on item: Israel's Policy Should Be Victory

Submitted by Mike Ramirez (United States), May 17, 2021 at 00:23

Dr. Pipes: The world is witnessing the historical continuance of an Islamic "Holy War" that has raged on for over 1400 years and is not aimed solely at the extermination of Jewish existence. This has become a global conflict whereby devout Muslims are obligated by the Qur'an and sayings of their prophet, Muhammad, to establish Islam as the only true religion on earth. (Qur'an 48:28) Western leaders fail to take into account the mindset of a determined ideological enemy and, therefore, place their own societies in peril whenever it is believed that peace and coexistence can be attained. An Israeli victory would only be temporary and would not stop the Islamic world at large from pursuing its goal by regrouping and praying to Allah to destroy the Jews and Christians.(Qur;an 9:30) This is more than just a territorial dispute in Israel; this is a global "Holy War," Islam vs the non-Muslim world. To whom will the ultimate Victory belong?

You are overly deterministic and pessimistic. For my counter-argument, see my "Can Islam Be Reformed?"
