Reader comment on item: Do Moderate Muslims Exist?
in response to reader comment: Guilty by Connotation

John Mazska says: "Fundamentalist (devout) Muslims, like any other fundamentalist group, hold a variety of political and socio-economic values that span from liberal to conservative and from pacifistic to militant. Just as many political and/or fiscal conservatives are not religiously conservative (or religious at all), so many religious conservatives also happen to be moderate or liberal in their economic and political views."

That's misleading and a non sequitur. Its worth pointing out here that Islamic fundamentalists have certain properties that are unique to them compared to fundamentalists in other religions. Consider what happened in Sri Lanka on Easter. Muslims are a minority in Sri Lanka. A dozen extremely wealthy Muslims (including a pregnant woman) blew themselves up on Easter to slaughter hundreds of Christians on their most sacred festival. This kind of evil is unique to Islam. It is unheard of that wealthy members of another religion say Jews or Hindus living as a minority in a third country would target another minority via suicide bombings. Sam Harris did an extensive analysis of the jihadist mentality in a 2016 podcast that is chillingly accurate to the last word when applied to the Islamic acts in Sri Lanka over Easter:
