The Peshmerga have been some of our most reliable allies in Iraq, yet they were unable to protect and American advisor from a company-sized ISIL attack. The central government in Iraq, meanwhile, is struggling to maintain its existence against Moktada Al-Sadr's Shi'ite militias:
