Polygamy-It's a Natural!

Reader comment on item: Non-Muslims Who Fast for Ramadan
in response to reader comment: How About Polygamy?

Submitted by Froike (United States), Jul 18, 2014 at 14:08

Ok Sports Fans, Polygamy is not esoteric to Islam. Some of our greatest Jewish ancestors were polygamists, men much closer to G-d than us: Abraham, Jacob, Kings Saul, David, and Solomon, to name a few. Polygamy was banned for Ashkenazic Jews, by Rabbenu Gershon, for 1000 years....(edict recently expired). Technically, Sephardic Jews are allowed to marry another wife if the first one can't bear children. Of course, permission is needed from the first wife and this is generally frowned upon. But let's cut to the meat of the issue: The down side of polygamy is that you get more than one Mother In-Law. Nuff said!
