Spelling of Hiz b'Allah

Reader comment on item: Hizbullah's Travails in a Graphic

Submitted by Abu Nudnik (Canada), May 27, 2013 at 18:22

Why does everyone write Hezbullah, Hezbollah? It's Hiz=party, b'=of, Allah=God. It should be Hizballah or Hizb'Allah or Hiz b'Allah or Hiz-b'Allah.

Daniel Pipes replies:

Hizb, not Hiz, means "party" in Arabic. Thus the spelling I used here.
