Any Obama support was an illusion

Reader comment on item: Obama's Anti-Zionism

Submitted by Stas (Ukraine), Jan 24, 2013 at 07:26

I think that most people acknowledge that Obama (and his selected administration) have taken upon themselves to hold Israel's feet to the fire and put pressure on her. From the day that Obama foolishly gave Abbas a pretext for running away from negotiations by making the settlements a precondition for talks, he has done more to damage the chances for peace than any others.

Whether this foolishness comes from a naive attempt to impress the arabs with his 'objectivity' and thus hoping that he was increasing the chances for dialogue, or whether this was simply and truly hostility to Israel (as he has had to accommodate the pro-Palestinian left in his democrat party), we do not know. Either way, the results are the same. Misguided and dangerous policies that Israel will have to circumvent.
