Sixty years ago, July 19th in 1952 the Helsinki Olympic Games were opened. The opening day was rainy but otherwise the games were a success.
After a few days the London Games will start, amid scandals caused by a mess in the recruiting of security personnel (tens of thousands). Did we have aircraft carriers in Helsinki? Helicopters, fighter bombers? I don't remember. The most prominent security guards, I guess were the traffic cops.
