A valid concern

Reader comment on item: Libyan Blues

Submitted by Ralph Whaley (United States), Aug 22, 2011 at 22:13

Dr Pipes you have reasons for your anxiety. There are some in the population who yearn for freedom and a government that protects them from religious and secular tyrants alike. The tribal allegiances that are widely prevalent are a serious threat to a secular rational government. America's founders established the first moral government in the history of man based on the ideas of the enlightenment. The task facing these people with no idealogical precedents in their culture is overwhelming.
