Sad state of affairs

Reader comment on item: Wasted U.S. Spending in Iraq (and Afghanistan): $53 billion and Counting

What a sad state of affairs. This is simply a testament to the mis-guided, failed and ultimately self defeating American agenda and actions taken in Iraq since 2003. And will anyone be held accountable for all of this? Anybody think that $6.6 billion might have been useful to keep in America, and use it for a worthy domestic purpose instead of have it lost in Iraq? I think Iraq will, ultimately, when the dust is all settled, remain a stain on the US historical record and not an achievement. This will of course be hotly debated and contested but I think the facts speak for themselves.
